The Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2014 is a prestige vintage Champagne crafted via the “infusion” technique: Pinot Noir grapes undergo a light cold maceration and the resulting red wine is blended into Chardonnay to complete fermentation. The blend is typically around 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, with circa 19% of the wines vinified in oak and no malolactic fermentation. The dosage is modest (7 g/L) and the wine is bottled at 12.5% ABV. This bottling displays a pale salmon-pink hue and elegant, persistent bubbles. Aromatically it unfolds with aromas of wild red berries (raspberry, red currant), citrus peel, floral elements and hints of smoke, spice and chalk. On the palate it balances juiciness with mineral tension and saline lift, finishing long, refined, and energetic, with a structure suited for long aging.
