    • Description

Established on schist soils above Lake Wanaka, Mt Maude produces Chardonnay with restraint and mineral drive. The 2023 vintage was hand harvested from estate vines planted in 1994 and fermented with native yeasts in seasoned French oak barriques. Around one third underwent malolactic fermentation before ten months of lees ageing. Bottled under screwcap at 14.0 percent ABV, it shows aromas of lemon, white peach, and hazelnut, complemented by subtle oak toast. The palate is textured and focused, uniting creamy weight with precise acidity. A flinty mineral finish reflects the cool alpine terroir and long growing season. A wine of balance and finesse, it will reward careful cellaring over five to seven years.
