Description
The Misha's Vineyard Cantata Pinot Noir 2022 is a finely tuned expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir, crafted to highlight fruit purity, balance and site character. Sourced from estate-grown vines in Bendigo, the fruit was hand-harvested in March and April and carefully sorted before fermentation. A blend of clones including 667 (66.6%), UCD 5 (21.2%), 777 (13.4%) and smaller portions of 114, UCD 6 and 4 contributes layered complexity. Around 22% whole bunches were included during open fermentations lasting about 24 days, after which the wine completed malolactic fermentation in 300 L French oak hogsheads, 13% of which were new. Bottled at 14.0% ABV, the wine shows a deep ruby colour and expressive aromas of cherry, raspberry and dark plum, intertwined with notes of chocolate, dried herbs and subtle oak spice. The palate is dry, medium-bodied and structured, with red and black fruit flavours supported by gently firm tannins and a bright acid line. A savoury, spice-laced finish lingers with poise and length. Approachable in its youth but structured to evolve, this wine will drink beautifully from 2025 to 2030.
