Description
The Misha's Vineyard Tempo Pinot Noir 2022 is a carefully crafted expression of Bendigo, Central Otago, designed to capture the elegance and vibrancy of the region's Pinot Noir. Fruit was sourced from estate vines planted across terraces at 210–350 m elevation and picked between late March and late April. Clonal diversity (UCD5, 4, Abel, 667 and 777) lends complexity, while whole-bunch inclusion of around 11% provides subtle lift and structure. Fermentation was carried out in open tanks over 25 days, followed by malolactic conversion in barrel. Maturation took place in 300L French oak barrels, with just 7% new wood to frame the fruit without overwhelming it. Bottled at 14.0% ABV, the wine shows a bright ruby colour and a bouquet of dark cherry, boysenberry and wild strawberry, layered with savoury herbs, spice and hints of earth. The palate is finely textured and dry, opening with a core of red and black fruits before revealing gentle oak spice, dried herbs and mineral tones. Supple tannins and fresh acidity give balance and length, while the finish is taut, persistent and refined. Approachable now, the 2022 Tempo will continue to gain complexity and harmony with five to seven years of careful cellaring.
