Description
The Nautilus Museum Release Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016 is a mature, terroir-driven expression that showcases the elegance and complexity achievable from the Southern Valleys with extended bottle age. Sourced from premium vineyard sites and crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the wine was fermented in small open-top tanks with gentle extraction to capture finesse and structure, then matured in French oak barriques before release. Bottled at 13.5% ABV, it now displays a garnet hue with brick reflections and an evolved yet vibrant aromatic profile. The bouquet layers dark cherry, raspberry and redcurrant with notes of forest floor, truffle, cedar and subtle smoky spice, reflecting its time in bottle. The palate is refined and harmonious, with supple red fruit, savoury earth and herbal complexity supported by fine, silky tannins and balanced acidity. A long, poised finish lingers with hints of sous-bois and spice. At peak maturity yet capable of further graceful evolution, this wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom risotto or game dishes and will continue to evolve through to 2026 and beyond.
