Every year Pegasus Bay releases a small amount of 10 year old wines from their library stock to showcase the potential of these mature wines.

There is a diverse array of bright aromas and flavours, suggesting mandarins, limes and nectarines with an overlay of mango, lychees, guavas and passionfruit. It has good body and concentration in the mouth but remains lithe and elegant

There is a fine seam of minerality and crisp acidity that balance its off-dry finish and draw out its lingering flavours.

    • Description

Bright, even, straw yellow with a green hue and depth. The nose is lifted, with aromas of green apple, dried apple slice, lime, petrol, crushed rocks and zest. Medium-full bodied, off-dry to taste, aromas of lime, lime peels entwined with baked apple, kumquat, honey, ginger, crushed rocks and a touch of petroleum. The wine is well-integrated and harmonious, with complex aromas developed, accompanied by soft yet enticing acidity, carrying long length and a moreish closing. A juicy Riesling with well-balanced strength and complex development. Match with chorizo pasta and chicken liver & white wine over the next 3-5 years. The fruit was harvested late in the season with a portion of botrytis, free run juice was cool fermented to 12.5% alc

The Donaldson family have taken full advantage of this unique setting. Their aim is to grow grapes of the highest quality, with minimal handling of the fruit, which fully expresses the features of the vineyard. As pioneers of local grape growing and winemaking, the family have been seriously involved with wine since the early 1970’s.

This wine has a star bright lemon hue and while lemons, limes and mandarins come to the fore, there is a background of ripe stonefruit such as peaches and apricots. Honeysuckle and honeycomb influences come from botrytis, which has also made the wine more full bodied and concentrated. It has a spine of natural acidity and tingling minerality that helps draw out the palate structure to a citrus zest finish.
