Description
Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro 20-Year-Old Tawny Port is a premium fortified wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley, produced by the historic Ramos Pinto estate. Established in 1880, the estate is known for its dedication to quality and innovation in port winemaking. This Tawny Port is made from a selection of plots within the Quinta do Bom Retiro vineyard, one of the region’s oldest, with many vines over 80 years old.
The wine is a blend of wines aged on average 20 years, matured in 650-litre oak casks. This extended ageing imparts rich complexity, depth, and the characteristic tawny colour.
In the glass, it shows a tawny colour with a yellow halo, reflecting its maturity. The nose is complex, with aromas of grapefruit, apricot, almond, hazelnut, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, coffee, and subtle hints of stearin and iodine. The palate is smooth and dry, offering a rich, persistent sequence of ripe and dried fruits and nuts in a fresh and balanced style.
Best served between 14°C and 18°C, this Tawny Port works well as an aperitif or dessert accompaniment. It pairs beautifully with chocolate, cheeses, cream-based desserts, dry fruits, nuts, and light pastries. For optimal preservation, store upright in a cool, dark place.
