    • Description

Ramos Pinto's Duas Quintas Tinto 2020 is a distinguished red wine from Portugal's Douro Superior, crafted by the renowned Ramos Pinto estate. Established in 1880, Ramos Pinto has a legacy of producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Douro Valley. The Duas Quintas range, named after the Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares estates, showcases the potential of the region's indigenous grape varieties.

The 2020 vintage is a blend of 58% Touriga Nacional, 24% Touriga Franca, and 18% traditional Douro varieties. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, then fermented in a combination of granite lagares, oak vats, concrete, and stainless steel vats. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months, with 20% in French oak barrels, 30% in large oak vats, and the remaining 50% in stainless steel. This meticulous process results in a wine that balances freshness, structure, and complexity.

In the glass, Duas Quintas Tinto 2020 presents a dark red colour with garnet reflections. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries, sweet violets, and hints of cistus and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with firm tannins and balanced acidity, delivering flavours of blackberry, cassis, and plum, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and oak. The finish is long and persistent, reflecting the wine's depth and structure.

This red wine pairs well with a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, stews, and aged cheeses. Its balance of fruit, acidity, and tannin structure suggests it will continue to evolve and develop complexity over the next several years.
