Description
Rock Ferry, founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Fenwick, is an organic Marlborough estate dedicated to producing wines that reflect both vineyard site and varietal expression. The Corners vineyard in Rapaura provides Riesling of purity and structure, well-suited to late-harvest style.
For the 2018 vintage, grapes were hand-picked late in the season to achieve optimum ripeness and botrytis concentration. Fermentation was carefully arrested to retain high natural sweetness, leaving approximately 103 g/L residual sugar. The wine then rested on lees until bottling in December 2020, gaining additional richness and texture.
The resulting wine is opulent yet finely balanced, with aromas of orange blossom, marmalade and honey. The palate is luscious and sweet, lifted by vibrant acidity that provides freshness and length. A beautifully crafted late-harvest Riesling, equally suited to pairing with fruit desserts, blue cheese, or enjoyed on its own as a contemplative glass.
