    • Description

Rock Ferry, founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Fenwick, is an organic Marlborough estate with vineyards extending into Central Otago. The steep slopes of the Trig Hill vineyard in Bendigo produce Pinot Noir of intensity and structure, shaped by the site’s elevation and schist soils.

In 2022, hand-picked Pinot Noir from Trig Hill was fermented primarily destemmed, with a small inclusion of whole clusters to add aromatic lift and structural detail. After pressing, the wine was aged for sixteen months in French oak barriques ranging from new to three years old. This balanced regime preserved fruit vibrancy while integrating subtle oak complexity.

The resulting wine is dark-fruited and expressive, with blackberry and plum notes layered with savoury spice, earth and a fine mineral thread. The palate is medium-bodied and taut, framed by bright acidity and chalky tannins that provide persistence and ageworthy structure.
