      Founded in 1163 by Carthusian monks, Scala Dei is Priorat's oldest winery, producing distinctive mountain wines from historic, terraced vineyards on steep slate slopes. The 2022 Priorat Garnatxa is sourced from old-vine Garnacha grown on licorella soils at altitude, hand-harvested to ensure vibrancy and site expression. Grapes are gently destemmed and fermented with native yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, using gentle extraction to preserve aromatic purity and finesse. The wine is matured in a mix of French and American oak barrels for several months, lending integration and subtle spice while highlighting the variety's natural freshness. In the glass, it reveals bright red fruit, floral and mineral notes, with a palate that is medium-bodied, driven by lively acidity and fine tannins, finishing with an elegant touch of oak and persistent minerality.
