Yarra Yering is one of the Yarra Valley's founding wineries, established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus.

Hand‑picked fruit was whole‑bunch pressed and fermented in French barriques and puncheons with (approx.) 25% new oak.

Matured ten months on lees without malolactic fermentation, producing a tight, mineral Chardonnay with citrus and hazelnut nuances.

    • Description

The 2021 Warramate Chardonnay is a refined Yarra Valley expression, matured for ten months on lees without undergoing malolactic fermentation. This approach has preserved a core of bright citrus fruit while building subtle texture and complexity.

In the glass, it offers aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and grapefruit alongside hints of hazelnut and flinty minerality. The palate is taut and focused - crisp citrus and stone fruit wrapped in a fine, chalky texture, underpinned by fresh acidity. A whisper of nutty savouriness adds depth to the long, mineral-driven finish.

Elegant and precise, this is a Chardonnay crafted for those who enjoy purity and tension in cool-climate whites. Delicious now with seafood, roast poultry, or creamy risotto, it will also reward careful cellaring for several years.
